In two separate municipalities, teams of five fisheries technology trainers from the bureau taught the Sumalag Fisherfolk Association (SFA) in Kinoguitan and the Mantangale Lapinig Bauk-bauk San Alonzo (MaLaBaSa) in Balingoan town on net cage mending and bamboo cage fabrication for the construction of a 10 m x 10 m bamboo fish cage.

Said activity aims to equip local fisherfolk with essential skills and knowledge in constructing bamboo fish cages, as well as for its maintenance and operation to ensure the project’s long-term sustainability.

Meanwhile, SFA president Oscar E. Quibedo expressed his gratitude for the technology introduced to them, noting its potential to increase their income and improve the overall productivity of their fish farming.

โ€œKini nga teknolohiya nga gi hatag sa amoa, dako gโ€™yud ni siyag ikatabang sa pag-pauswag sa among panginabuhian ug pinaagi sad niini mas mapalambo pa ang among pangisdaan danhi sa among lugar,โ€ he conveyed.

[We truly benefited from the new technology being taught to us. This is such a big help in the improvement of our livelihood and through this, we can also progress our fisheries here.]

Funded under SAAD’s Food Production and Livelihood (FPL) component, the 100 square-meter bamboo fish cage project worth P565-K will provide beneficiaries with a transformative livelihood project that will allow them to become entrepreneurs.
