๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ก, ๐๐ฎ๐ด๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ฟ๐ผ ๐๐ถ๐๐ (๐ ๐ช๐ก๐ฎ 10) – In line with the bureauโs thrust of ensuring food security in the region, the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) program phase 2 of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region-10 (BFAR-10) spearheaded a training on Bangus and Tilapia Post Harvest Processing (PHP) on July 10โ11 in Lanao del Norte.

Linamon Farmers and Fisherfolks Agriculture Cooperative (LiFFACo) participants in Linamon town were engaged in hands-on training sessions, particularly on Bangus deboning and Spanish Style Bangus in Corn Oil.
While the Linindingan Tilapia Grower Farmers Association (LTGFA) in Poona Piagapo town was trained in the processing of Tilapia for Tillanggit and Fish Nuggets.
According to BFAR-10 LDN SAAD Provincial Alternate Focal Person Al Jun B. Magamano, the activity aims to equip the participants with skills to process available fish into products, which will then serve as an alternative source of their income and prevent post-harvest losses.
โThese skills training will be of great help to the local fisherfolk, particularly the fishermen’s wives, to establish an additional source of income while their spouses are away at sea,โ he conveyed.
In an interview, Anna Rose T. Casquezo, whose husband is a member of the LiFFACo, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the program for providing them with the knowledge and skills that are necessary for their livelihood.
โMakatabang gyud ang mga training session gikan sa BFAR-SAAD kay nakakat-on ko sa mga butang nga maka dugang sa among panginabuhian hilabi na sa among mga banaโng mangingisda,โ she said.
[The training from BFAR-SAAD was very helpful because I gained new skills that would add up to our livelihood and this would also help our spouses earn more money.]Ultimately, the BFAR-10 SAAD program remains steadfast in empowering local fisherfolk by providing them access to economic opportunities, thus improving their fisheries activities and further transforming them into successful community-based enterprises (CBEs).
