๐๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ก, ๐ ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐ ๐ข๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น (๐ ๐ช๐ก๐ฎ 03) โ Bringing together 45 core participants, the BFAR-10โs Provincial Fisheries Office of Misamis Oriental (PFO-MisOr), in partnership with the Fisheries Resource Management Section (FRMS), recently conducted an intensive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activity on Agutayan Island, July 02.
Local fisherfolk and members of the local government unit (LGU) in Jasaan gained valuable insights into the status and importance of various marine resources, such as coral reefs, seagrasses, reef fish, sea cucumbers, and giant clams present in the waters surrounding the island.

“Ania mi karon aron ipahibalo sa inyo kung unsa ka-importante ang papel niining mga marine habitats para sa proteksyon sa inyung kadagatan ug para ra pod nga mas mulahutay pa ang inyong pangisda diri,โ explained Arlene Novo, Provincial Fishery Officer of PFO-MisOr.
[Understanding the importance of these marine habitats is crucial for protecting the sea and the sustainability of our fishing livelihood.]The campaign also touched on fishery laws involving the Protected Philippine Aquatic Wildlife present on the island.
An open forum was commenced, providing a platform for fisherfolk to voice their concerns and suggestions regarding marine resource management.
Key issues raised included the re-installment of Deputized Fishery Wardens to deter illegal fishing, the re-organization of the Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC), and inquiries about the provision of fishing gear.
