CATARMAN, Camiguin โ€“ In a significant step toward strengthening local organizations, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Region 10 (BFAR-10), through the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2, recently completed a series of social preparation training sessions for five fisherfolk associations in Camiguin Province.

The training, which was attended by the Benoni Fisherfolk Association (BFA), United Fisherfolk Organization of Cantaan (UFOC), Sagay Inland Fish Grower Association (SIFGA), Tangaro Fresh Water Fish Raiser Association (TFWFRA), and Punta Catarman Community Fishing Association (PCCFA), focused on enhancing teamwork, leadership, and harmony within their groups.

Participants engaged in key sessions on Ethical Leadership and Decision-Making and Effective Conflict Management, which aimed to equip them with the tools they needed to handle disagreements, make good decisions, and build a sense of unity within their groups.

A notable outcome of the training is the associationโ€™s commitment to holding regular meetings to openly address concerns and collectively find solutions.

The success of the sessions was supported by the active involvement of the fisherfolk and the assistance of the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Catarman,  Sagay, Guinsiliban, and Mahinog in ensuring the smooth progress of the project.

This initiative underscores SAAD Program Phase 2 Camiguin’s commitment to extending support beyond livelihood assistance by equipping fisherfolk with essential social skills, thereby ensuring that unity and cooperation remain at the core of their community development.
