TANGUB CITY, Misamis Oriental (April 02) – The Panguil Bay Development Council (PBDC) convened its second meeting since its official reactivation on February 11, 2025, in a dynamic three-day workshop held in Tangub City starting today.
Led and facilitated by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 10 (BFAR-10), key stakeholders and technical experts from Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, and Zamboanga del Sur convened to streamline strategies for the revitalization of the said council.
“Our main goal here is to focus on expounding the functions and responsibilities of newly established Technical Working Groups (TWGs),” BFAR-10’s Fisheries Resource Management Section (FRMS) officer-in-charge, Princess Mae Cena, explained.
During the sessions, participants discussed the essential role that each TWG plays in guiding the council’s policy and operational frameworks.
The TWGs were organized into five committees to cover critical areas: Policy, Plans and Program Formulation (PPPF); Environment; Law Enforcement; Livelihood; and Information, Education and Communication (IEC).
Another objective of the workshop is to identify and confirm the TWG members for each committee.
This move is seen as a priority for ensuring clear leadership and effective implementation of initiatives designed to improve the bay’s resource management and overall development.
Throughout the three-day activity, participants will be engaging in an intensive workshop aimed at crafting a comprehensive operational plan and action plan for the PBDC.
Through BFAR-10’s effort, this will allow PBDC’s committee to develop tailored strategies that will address both local challenges and pursue broader developmental goals.
On the final day of the activity, the operational and action plans of each committee will be presented, providing a detailed roadmap for future projects and policy interventions in the region until the year 2028.(CLViajante//BFAR-10)
