MACABALAN, Cagayan de Oro City (Jul. 04) – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 10 (BFAR-10) celebrated its 76th anniversary with a grand event, honoring the significant contributions of its regional directors in advancing the fisheries and aquatic resources sector in the region.

The BFAR-10 anniversary celebration, held at the bureau’s premises, brought together visitors and employees to commemorate the agency’s achievements and pay tribute to the exceptional leadership of its regional directors throughout the years.
BFAR-10 director Edward Yasay, highlighted the bureau’s accomplishments over the past 76 years, emphasizing the commitment of its personnel to sustainable fisheries management and the promotion of marine biodiversity in the region.
“The right decisions that have been made in the past have brought us here today. Let that be an inspiration for us to do better and achieve our goal,” remarked Yasay, that has been at the helm of BFAR-10 for the past four months.
Highlighting the ceremony was the unveiling of the directorial gallery wall as a special tribute paid to the previous regional directors who played pivotal roles in the growth and development of the fisheries sector in the region.
Among the honored directors was the esteemed Teodoro Bacolod Jr., who led BFAR-10 from 2020-2023. Former RD Bacolod implemented groundbreaking policies revitalizing the region’s aquaculture industry and establishing stronger partnerships with local fishing communities. His visionary leadership laid the foundation for the significant progress achieved in subsequent years.
Bacolod received this year’s “Gawad Pagkilala” award for his unwavering dedication and exemplary service that left an indelible mark in the fisheries industry.
The bureau also gifted the former RD an 18K gold bull ring as a token of appreciation for his 40-year selfless public service in the bureau.
The BFAR-10 anniversary celebration not only honored the achievements of the bureau over the past 76 years but also served as a reminder of the vital role that bureau personnel play in driving positive change in the fisheries and aquatic resources sector.
