BFAR’s Fisheries Development Program prioritizes livelihood interventions by providing essential support such as fishing gear, aquaculture inputs, post-harvest infrastructure, and market development services. This includes facilitating access to necessary equipment and resources for fishing and aquaculture activities, implementing measures to improve post-harvest handling and processing, and fostering market opportunities through initiatives like agri-aqua fairs and market matching programs.
1. CAPTURE FISHERIES SUB-PROGRAM
Provision/Distribution of fishing gear/paraphernalia such as payao, hook and line, trap gears, net gears, motorized boats, non-motorized boats, marine engine among others.
2. AQUACULTURE SUB-PROGRAM
Milkfish and tilapia fingerlings production and distribution, provision of seaweeds propagules and farm implements, establishment and maintenance of seaweeds nurseries, establishment and maintenance of maricultre parks, distribution of cages for livelihood, operation and maintenance of production facilities.
3. POST HARVEST FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
Provision of fishery on farm equipment and establishment of post-harvest facilities.
